Just the FAQS. A Quick Q & A about CBD.
What is CBD, and is it legal?
- Plants Of Life CBD (Cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid, derived from industrial hemp, and is legal in almost all states (check your local laws). To qualify as legal, CBD products must contain .3% or less THC (the compound found in marijuana that gets you high). We utilize proprietary Phyto cannabinoid-rich industrialized hemp (70-85%) in all our CBD products. Our extraction process allows us to completely remove the THC from our oil, while leaving the other naturally present synergistic cannabinoids and terpenoids undisturbed.
Will Plants Of Life CBD products get me high?
- No. the Psychoactive component of our CBD products have been completely removed.
How exactly does CBD work in the body?
-
Along with the many systems within our body, the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which was discovered in the 1990s,helps keep our other systems in harmony by regulating homeostasis.
-
The endocannabinoid system has three components: receptors, enzymes, and endocannabinoids. Receptors exist throughout the body and are a substance to which endocannabinoids bind. Enzymes appear in many forms, but only two types of enzymes break down endocannabinoid. Endocannabinoids complement the body by keeping internal functions running smoothly. Understanding the effects of CBD involves examining the relationship between the receptors and endocannabinoids.
- There are two types of receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily in the central nervous system and are responsible for governing coordination, movement, pain, appetite, memory, mood, and other functions. The CB2 receptors are in the peripheral nervous system, influencing pain, and inflammation.
- After the enzymes break down the cannabinoids, the endocannabinoids look to bind with receptors. Researchers believe that CBD does not directly attach itself to the receptor but influences it in some way. Activating these receptors is what allows for many of the health benefits that people associate with the compound.
What are the differences between Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum & Isolate?
- A new terminology has emerged recently to describe a distillate oil that falls
- somewhere in between Isolate and Full spectrum — it’s called broad spectrum CBD oil. Broad spectrum CBD oil is similar to full spectrum products, but it is further refined to remove the THC below detectable levels while keeping the other beneficial cannabinoids in the oil. Whenever you see FULL SPECTRUM labeling on CBD products, this usually indicates a THC level above .3%. Broad spectrum CBD oil typically contains somewhere between 70% and 90% cannabidiol while retaining the other beneficial cannabinoids and plant molecules such as CBN, CBC, CBG and CBD with no detectable THC.
- Broad spectrum is an excellent choice for customers who do not want any THC in their product, but desire the benefits of the “entourage effect” (the synergy achieved by all the components in cannabis). These components work together to enhance the potential benefits of the plant. Each compound can amplify the therapeutic properties of the others while mitigating their potential side effects. Broad spectrum CBD is especially beneficial for people who may be subject to testing for THC for work or other requirements (check with your employer before taking any CBD products).
- Broad spectrum oil is used to formulate CBD oil tinctures, CBD vape cartridges, CBD topical creams and other high-quality products. Isolate CBD is pure CBD, without the additional plant molecules that can limit the effectiveness brought by the "entourage effect", but may have a benefit in certain applications.
